This funghi's name, description and design is a reference to a Kappa (河童, "river-child"), a type of water sprite found in Japanese Folklore.

Trivia[]

Kappa are usually seen as mischievous troublemakers or trickster figures. Their favorite food is known to be cucumbers and eating cucumbers before swimming is in some regions known as a way of protecting yourself from Kappa attack (while in other regions it is believed that doing so will guarantee that you do get attacked). There is even a type of sushi called Kappa Maki which consists of cucumber and rice inside rolled seaweed.
